biography
Mark Matthis was born in the summer of 1998 alongside Dawn Matthis. Their biological parents are unknown, possibly even deceased. As infants, they were abducted by a sinister organization known only as The Eye. They abducted a series of children during this time, all born within the same day in order to have a consistent study with the various children.These twins were kept together, both injected with a serum known as ZB-13. This serum was meant to create zombie-like soldiers for their private militia. After two years with minimal results, each of these experiments was abandoned. Deemed a failure, The Eye wanted the laboratory (Oculus Dexter) to dispose of the children. A scientist by the name Dr. Thatcher could not bring herself to do so. Instead, she brought the children to a sanctuary. Dr. Thatcher was later killed but the children were never identified.The orphanage that took the children in kept the twins together, and were both adopted by a married couple named James and Charity Matthis. They lived happily for the first couple of years, but James developed a drinking problem and became abusive. In their pre-teen years, Mark and Dawn developed special abilities. The pair developed superhuman strength, durability, and heightened senses.Their adopted parents were split on how to handle the situation. James wanted to put them back up for adoption or find someone to take them off their hands. Charity wanted to protect them from the outside world and it from them.To avoid James' lashings, the two of them started adopting other activities to keep them out of the house. Dawn attended church while Mark began roaming the streets, committing petty crimes with the assistance of his abilities.After a botched theft left the police looking for Mark, James scolded Charity for her allowance of their behavior, going as far as to say she was enabling the devil's work and he wanted her out. His verbal and physical abuse was a gateway to her taking her own life. When Mark arrived home, a drunken James blamed Mark and Dawn for their adopted mother's death. James attempted to choke Mark, forcing him to defend himself. With an uppercut, Mark accidentally killed his father. With his body lying there, Mark's cravings overtook him. Dawn was frightened and called the police after Mark had consumed him. Mark was forced to flee, while Dawn sought help for the cravings she possessed. She got a job to support herself but eventually ended up on the street, while Mark fled to stay out of prison.Now on his own, Mark joined up with the Brooklyn Luciano family, using his unique abilities to rise up in the ranks and take control in only a couple of years' time. With Matthis as their leader, the mafia family moved towards importing vehicles, bikes, and weapons illegally. He was then referred to as Deadman. He carried on with these activities with this alias for a long while.It didn't take long for The Eye to catch on to Mark and Dawn's activities. They captured Mark and put him in a vat of modified Z1-B3 {red} that stripped him of his body modifications such as tattoos, and allowed him to grow in size when a chip they planted activated. He managed to get out on his own, but they use the chip to have Mark carry out their operations, usually assassinations. When under their control, his muscle mass expands and he grows in size. He dons a mask and butcher apron and is instructed to kill by any means necessary. By day, he continues to operate his illegal operation while planning how to get back at The Eye for taking away his free will.After weeks of moonlighting as their puppet, Matthis was finally able to get the chip removed. It was a painful process, but it was a message he sent to Charlotte Treybourne that he wouldn't be their puppet.Getting back to normal, his ceased his relationship with Heather Walsh and began a new with a woman named Evangeline, a private investigator he grew affection for. She occasionally fed him the victims of her cases, the poor souls that crossed her would be his dinner.Continuing his illegal operations in secret, he hit a snag when his gang, The Syndicate MC, had lost faith in him as he was becoming more of a boyfriend than a gang leader. He set out to take down one of their rivals, a high profile Japanese gang known as The Balance and their leader Inyo. The Balance specializes in human trafficking, drugs, and vehicle exports. For their former, they use a flower delivery service as their cover.Matthis' idea was to attack their exports coming out of the city, attempting to blow up the trucks with high-end explosives. Inyo caught wind of the scheme, knocking him off of his bike on the Brooklyn Bridge, the crash and gunfire causing huge pileups with other vehicles. The two fought, but her powers proved too much for him when she'd separate into two beings. During the fight, Inyo blasted Matthis through the stomach, knocking him from the bridge to the waters below. Before hitting the lake, Matthis hit the detonator on his explosive, effectively blowing up that section of the bridge, hellfire ablaze, though he was certain she was still alive.Making it to shore, Mark was able to reach his phone, calling Evangeline to rescue him. She managed to find him before the police had, taking him back to her apartment to rest, though he died on her floor, saved only by her blood. Evangeline was a demon-hybrid, her blood effectively saving him from death. It took weeks for his injury to fully heal.

Enhanced Strength and Durability
Mark possesses strength above the thresholds of an average person. This includes lifting large objects and hitting with undeniable force. He can capsize concrete or brick walls with enough force. Just as he is strong, he can take large amounts of damage without injury. When in his mutated form, he is nearly inpenetrable.Regeneration
If Mark does become injured, his body can heal itself over short periods of time. This is not instantaneous, however, as deep wounds, internal injuries, or fractures may take days to recover fully.Enhanced Senses
Mark's senses are increased way beyond that of the average human, especially his sense of smell and hearing. This helps him identify and track his opponents and victims with ease.Enhanced Agility and Reflexes
When in his normal form, Mark possesses superhuman reflexes and agility, making him a fast and dangerous opponent. His senses are keen and sharp, allowing him to take down enemies stealthily or quickly, whichever he so chooses.Zombie Physiology
With TRE in his blood, Mark has desperate cravings to eat human brains, flesh, organs, and blood. If he goes long periods of time without doing so, he develops aggressive migraines that make him unstable. He does not have a banshee scream like Dawn. Instead, he possesses the ability to mutate his muscular form, becoming larger while losing his reflexes but making up for it in strength and durability. This effect may also happen when his chip is activated to carry out missions for The Eye.Tools and Weapons
In his normal state of mind, Mark has expertise in many weapon types, mainly small guns, rifles, and combat knives. He uses a motorcycle or black truck to travel around in.When Mark mutates, his arsenal narrows down to a few weapons of choice. His hands, a minigun, a machete, or anything big he can get his hands on. In this form he is too large for his motorcycle, so he commonly drives a black truck or walks to his destinations.

1. Whenever Mark goes too long without eating flesh, normally a few days or so, he begins to experience migraines that disrupt daily life. After going longer periods of time, the virus takes over and makes him seek out people with him having little control until his hunger has been fulfilled.
